5 – Winning At The Etihad

Now usually for this Arsenal squad, winning away at the current Premier League champions would seem an impeccable landmark, after struggling in recent years to pick up points against the big boys.

However, this performance was ultimately the beginning of a season changing partnership between Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla.

Arsenal fans went into this game with doubt still hanging at the back of their head as to whether Coquelin’s run of form was just a blip. But the Frenchman put a statement out there, as his no-nonsense approach managed to shut out the likes of David Silva and Serigo Aguero.

The 2-0 victory at City was thanks to goals from Olivier Giroud and a Santi Cazorla penalty, which put the finishing touch on the performance of the season from the Spaniard.

That was Arsenal’s first win at Manchester City since October 2010, and it ended an impressive 12-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

And although the Gunners may have finished just short of City this season, it’s already an encouragement for next year.
