Golden Gabi: 5 things we learned as Arsenal beat Leicester City 4-2

3 – Jesus’ mentality will be key this season

It was the perfect performance from Jesus as he put on a show for his new home supporters, pocketing two goals and two assists.

You’d think that was job done for the Brazilian but according to Arteta’s post-match interview, he was still unhappy with how he left things.

Speaking with the media about Jesus’ performance, Arteta said “He’s scored two, assisted two and he’s still disappointed in the dressing room because he said he could have scored four. That’s the standard”.

This is what has really changed the game for Arsenal this season and if they do manage to secure Champions League football it will have a lot to do with their mentality.

We all know that if this was Lacazette, that would be an unheard of day at the office and we would be playing it on repeat in shear disbelief.

But with Jesus, you kind’ve sit back and expect these things to be happening which is why he’s managed to capture the Arsenal crowd so quickly.

Arteta has given him the freedom to play his very best football in the number nine position and as long as he’s happy doing that, we will continue to see performances like these.

The other thing that I see is the relationship he holds with his strike partner, Eddie Nketiah, who managed to come on in the 84th minute for a cameo role.

The duo have looked after each other and Jesus consistently references the competition that they have, both pushing to make the other one better which is something we NEVER saw with Lacazette and Nketiah.
