Ex Arsenal Player Says ‘Wenger Could Spend £150m This Summer’ – Here’s How

Ex-Arsenal striker John Hartson believes Arsenal are about to go and spend a lot of money. He spoke to the Daily Star before the Gunners confirmed the £30million addition of Granit Xhaka

Hartson believes that Arsenal could spend up to £150million this summer, excluding the Xhaka deal.

“I reckon he’ll think ‘I’m going to spend all this money that’s been given to me’.

“I think he’ll actually spend up to £150m this summer, I really, really do.”

Hartson also said that Robert Lewandowski would help change the club completely. Lewandowski, who scored a record 30 Bundesliga goals last season, would obviously be an incredible addition and Hartson thinks the club should go all out for him.

“I’d like them to go and get a Lewandowski, that type of player.

“Someone like how [Thierry] Henry was. Someone who is mobile, someone who is a real presence, someone who can head it, score left foot, right foot and fire in volleys. I think the crowd would love that too.

So with £30million Xhaka signed, how could Arsenal spend a further £120million? Robert Lewandowski (£50million), Kalidou Koulibaly (£25million), Henrikh Mkhitaryan (£25million) and a further £20million on a back up left back and youth signings. That’s just a suggestion Arsene..

Is Lewandowski really realistic? He’d be an incredible signing but he is at one of the best clubs in the world and Arsenal are a level below. Then again, if the Gunners can keep hold of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and add all these players (they won’t) then Arsenal would surely be not just contenders for the Premier League, but the Champions League also. Plus if Lewandowski wants to move to England, Arsenal are the only club in the Champions League that could afford his wages and that needs him (Manchester City have Aguero) – so whilst it is unlikely, never say never.
