Arsenal have signed Granit Xhakafrom Borussia Monchengladbach and are set to officially confirm the signing in the coming days. The 23-year-old midfielder has put pen to paper on a 5-year deal and will join the squad after Euro 2016, where he will be competing with Switzerland.

The fee for Xhaka is around £25million, with an additional £5million in bonuses possible. Xhaka is thought to have agreed to wages of around £90,000 per week.

We at Fresh Football have been close to this deal for some time and if you followed us on Twitter or Facebook, you would’ve known this deal was on the verge of completion already.

Xhaka has been capped more than 40 times for Switzerland and was captain at his former club. He will bring height, strength and natural leadership to the Arsenal midfield. Although his discipline may be one area of concern, it is that aggression that could if channeled correctly, be transferred into a quality, dominant central midfielder – something Arsenal haven’t had at the club since the days of Patrick Vieira.

Xhaka also has the qualities to play as a playmaker, he excels with his long-range passing, whilst his strength allows him to be able to beat a man in tight midfield situations.
