With the transfer window closing soon, Arsene Wenger will have to accelerate any plans to sign new faces this month. But despite the media hush on potential incomings at the Emirates – there is the potential for some big additions to still be made. Here’s three of the most likely.
1. Karim Benzema
The most talked about transfer that has never happened? Benzema to Arsenal has become an obsession amongst some Arsenal fans this summer and if it was ever going to happen, it was going to be in the final week or so of the transfer window. Real Madrid have never categorically ruled out a move, though Benitez has publicly backed the French striker. From what I’ve been told, Madrid are willing to sell but are asking for £60million. Arsenal don’t want to pay that, for a striker who will turn 28 this season. The Gunners are however prepared to break their transfer record, with a fee of around £45million. Could that be the difference between winning the title and not?
