Arsenal appear to be set to part ways with one of their recent signings and former potential star midfielder.
As we know, Arteta seems to be looking to bring in new midfielders this summer and to do that, the club will need to sell some players.
One player of value but that has struggled to fit in at Arsenal is Lucas Torreira. The 24-year-old Uruguayan has always given his all and is tenacious, but his lack of on the ball ability has seen him used sparingly under new boss Arteta, who wants all his players to be technically excellent.
Now according to Gazetta Dello Sport, via Sport Witness, Torreira has been given the ‘green light’ to leave Arsenal – with no shortage of suitors in Italy. Roma have been very heavily linked, with a swap deal with Amadou Diawara mooted – but it appears Torino could now be front runners.
Why? Marco Giampaolo. The now Torino manager, managed Torreira at Sampdoria before he joined Arsenal and he is a big fan on the player.
Arsenal will be hoping to recoup around £25million (what they paid for him). The amount of interest in the player will mean the Gunners should be able to do that.
This is one sale that looks very likely to happen in the next couple of weeks and Edu Gaspar should be doing all he can to get this sale over the line and fund the coffers in order for the club to explore moves for the likes of Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar.
