The Gunners have been linked with several players in recent weeks, but the likes of Mauro Icardi have rebuffed the Gunners approaches, leaving targets few and far between. We take a look at four players that could still make the switch to The Emirates.
1 – Alexandre Lacazette
Lacazette certainly looks like the most likely forward to join Arsenal this summer and the Gunners are expected to up their bid next week. Tony Cascarino said on Sky Sports News on Sunday night: “I’d be surprised if Lacazette isn’t an Arsenal player next week.”
Tony is hardly the most reliable source, but he claims that he is so certain because of what he has heard from his friends in France. Lyon are quite clearly willing to sell Lacazette, and their contrasting public stance is simply a way of trying to raise the price tag. The player looks like he wants the move and Arsenal, despite having a £29million bid turned down, also seem to want to push through the deal.
Despite the public stern attitude towards a Lacazette sale from the Lyon president, Lyon’s manager thinks it is possible the Frenchman may leave the club this summer. Amongst other words he told reporters “some offers you cannot refuse” as Arsenal reportedly weigh up an improved £35million bid for the 25-year-old striker.
