Bruno Genesio has revealed that his side could be powerless to losing him if the right amount of money is offered this summer, fuelling more speculation on the 25-year-old’s future.

Arsene Wenger is thought to be a huge admirer of the French international, who has been on the Gunners radar for the last three years as the hunt for a top class striker goes on.

Lyon confirmed that a £29.5million bid had already been turned down this summer, but the papers now believe Arsenal are plotting a significantly higher offer.

And according to Genesio; who was talking to RTL on Sunday afternoon, the likelihood of holding on to Lacazette is now in doubt.

He can leave if Lyon want him to. There are some offers that you cannot refuse.

My desire as manager is that the best players stay and Lacazette is very important for the team.

I have been assured by my president that we will keep the player. You never know what could happen right up until August 31st.

The comments speak volumes towards the situation Arsenal find themselves in, and with every day that passes the confidence of Lyon officials is dampening.

Personally I feel this public approach is a way to get more money out of the deal, this is a rare gem that they have and like any club, they’ll want the best possible price.

Something in the region of £45m will get him, I’m sure of it, which may sound ridiculous but in a market where everyone’s prices have doubled that’s not bad business.

It’s also a great chance for Wenger to lay down a statement to his rival teams, by paying slightly over the odds it will show his transfer policies have changed.

This is his chance to get a fan favourite deal over the line, and it’s on his shoulders to pay up the money that Lyon so desperately are holding out for.

Lacazette has already revealed he wants a move to the Premier League, and if he’s made up his mind then Lyon aren’t going to be happy with an unsettled player at their club.

The reason this deal means so much to the Lyon officials is because of how long the forward has been a part of the club, so personal sentiment is something you can’t put a price on.

Whilst Lacazette is odds-on to join this summer, there’s been an interesting name linked with filling the void in defence, could this Mexican star be the answer?
