Laurent Koscielny has managed to find himself in another season where his talents have been underestimated.

The Frenchman continues to improve year upon year, and this season has finally been the proof that Premier League fans needed that he is one of the best in his position.

The Gunners began the season with doubt over the reliability of both our first choice centre backs, and the dreaded injury crisis came back to haunt Wenger’s defence.

Koscielny picked up an injury just two months into the season, which left him out of action for the majority of October and November, leaving the boss with no option but to play Nacho Monreal alongside Per Mertesacker.

The 29-year-old returned to action on November 29th during Arsenal’s 1-0 win over West Brom, however in rushing him back it caused a follow-up injury and Kocielny endured a brief spell back on the sidelines.

January brought us Gabriel Paulista and instantly relieved Koscielny of his defensive loyalties, meaning Wenger now had the ability to rotate his centre backs.

The second half of the season was much brighter for the French international, and he teamed up with the BFG to form yet another formidable partnership. With David Ospina between the sticks, this defensive duo was at the heart of their Premier League winning streak record for the season.

Koscielny finished off his fifth season with Arsenal by playing the full 90 minutes in the FA Cup final, and confirmed that his aim was to just improve his personal game at the club for many years to come.
