If Arsenal are to sign players, a new goalie is a good place to start. This area has been an issue ever since Wojciech Szczesny’s antics on New Years Day, and as a result, many have called on Wenger to sign a world-class ‘keeper during the summer.

David Ospina has done exceptionally well since replacing the Pole as first-choice ‘keeper, but even he’s had a few moments of blunder in recent times, which has lead critics to question whether he’s even good enough to be the club’s long term no.1. Despite this though, he has made a strong case for himself.

However, there are niggling question marks hanging over the head of Szczesny. Although Wenger maintained the trend of sticking with Szczesny as the cup ‘keeper, by starting him in goal for the FA Cup final, his future is far from certain to be at Arsenal next season.

Increasing reports that a deal for Chelsea’s Petr Cech, who wishes to remain in London, looks to be completed in the following days. Cech finished the season with yet another Premier Leauge medal, but has grown frustrated at playingsecond fiddle to current no.1 Chelsea ‘keeper Thibaut Courtois.

Any new goalkeeping signing would certainly push Szczesny out the door whilst bolstering the squad, in preparation for a title challenge.
