It’s high time Arsenal began to trim the fat from the squad and it seems they’ve already started doing exactly that, with Ryo Miyaichi and injury cursed Abou Diaby being released from the club.

There’s a long way to go still with the likes of Mathieu Flamini, Yaya Sanogo, Lukas Podolski and Joel Campbell all considered to be players now surplus to requirements at the club, though it is concerning to know that Flamini has been retained in the squad.

There are also uncertainties regarding the futures of veteran Tomas Rosicky, who’s fallen victim to the squad depth in midfield during the second part of last season. Though he’s considered to be a fan favourite, with the amount of midfield options at the club’s disposal and considering his age, it’s probably best he also left the club.

An exodus of unwanted players would undoubtedly free up space for new and approved recruits.
