Unlike other summers, blink and you might miss it. We’re here to recap the 5 major movements in the transfer market from Arsenal so far this summer.
Unai Emery and co. have been hard at work and whilst we’re sure there are plenty more deals to be done, we wanted to take a look back at what’s been done so far and reflect.
1 – Bernd Leno
A new keeper. A lot of Arsenal fans wanted one, and the Gunners have already signed a new one, and it’s not even July. The fluency to which we are completing major deals this summer is new and very welcome. Leno is 26 years old but despite his relatively young age, he has a lot of top-level experience. Whilst he has made some high profile errors, there were some top clubs interested in signing him for a reason (Napoli and Atletico Madrid were mentioned), Leno has a lot of quality and can get to the next level at Arsenal under Emery. For £18million he is good value and will more than likely take Petr Cech’s spot as the first-choice goalkeeper, with David Ospina finally moving on.
