4 – Jack Wilshere released
A ballsy call. For Emery to practically talk Wilshere out of signing a new deal in his first month as new manager is mark of confidence if nothing else. Wilshere is a fans favourite but if we are honest, he is not at the level Arsenal need starting players to be at, and he wants to be playing regularly. The only way around this is to cut ties with the player and go separate ways, which is what Emery has decided to do. Wilshere is another of the Wenger favourites to be shifted, with Theo Walcott joining Everton in January and Olivier Giroud moving to Chelsea.
