West Brom have joined Aston Villa, Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Southampton in their interest in loaning 19 year old Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry this season.
Serge Gnabry has enormous potential, he’s still so young. Although he had injuries throughout last season, many forget that he played a part in the first team two seasons ago – and he’s only just turned 19.
It is the first team impact he had at Arsenal when he was just 17 that will have attracted the widespread interest from Premier League clubs.
Gnabry needs to develop this year though and he needs match fitness. He would be useful for us but I think a loan move to a Premier League club would be ideal to help with his fitness and development.
Ideally I’d choose Southampton out of the clubs mentioned, they play at the highest level and compete in Europe. I wonder if he would play regularly there though? At Crystal Palace he’d surely be a regular in the first eleven – and he’d probably work his way into all the sides that are interested in him to be honest.
Lukas Podolski and Joel Campbell (imminent) departures have presented an opportunity for Gnabry in the Arsenal squad, but there is a possibility that the Gunners will add another forward this summer – which would have an effect on Gnabry’s game time.
Personally I hope we sign a world class forward like Karim Benzema or Marco Reus, and loan out Gnabry for a full season to a Premier League club.
