Arsenal managed to sign Alexis Sanchez this summer, which was viewed as a huge coup. However according to Mundo Deportivo, his ex-teammate Pedro was in fact the Gunners first choice.
At the start of June, Fresh Arsenal brought you this report that the Gunners had made a bid for Barcelona’s Pedro. The Spanish forward looked to be first choice for Arsenal, but the players reluctance to leave saw Arsene Wenger switch his attention elsewhere, and that’s where Alexis Sanchez came in.

Alexis Sanchez’ impressive World Cup may have played some part in the decision to sign him, but it does look like the Gunners originally wanted Pedro. The Spanish midfielder was being watched by the club since January.
