Arsenal’s summer was overall fairly successful. Although they didn’t land the world class striker the club wanted, they did make some solid signings and managed to retain their key players. I take a look at three things Arsenal need to do in January to build on this.
1 – Sign a versatile right back
With Hector Bellerin out injured the whole Arsenal fanbase will be sweating when any team attack down our right hand side. Carl Jenkinson is not at the right level, Mathieu Debuchy is, well I don’t know where he is and Ainsley Maitland-Niles is young and not a right back. It had been mentioned that Arsenal tried to sign Monaco full back Sidibe in the summer, he would’ve been a perfect addition as he can cover at both right and left back and even in midfield. That’s the type of player Wenger needs to find as when Bellerin is fit they are unlikely to get a look in at right back. It’s important any new signing can at least cover one more position whether that be left back, centre back or right midfield to ensure they get enough game time to stay happy.
