Arsenal legend, Sol Campbell, has suggested he has his eyes on moving into management whilst talking exclusively to 888sport.
The former Gunner, who won two Premier League titles and three FA Cup trophies under Arsene Wenger believes now is the time to focus on the next level in football.
Campbell’s career path took a brief shift after finishing his playing career with Newcastle United back in 2011, and he’s since gone on to challenge more of a political agenda.
The 42-year-old has his sights set on one day becoming Mayor of London but things struggled to develop and he has since continued to campaign up and down the country for organisations.
However, in an exclusive interview with 888sport, the England international has spoken out about coming back into the game with management topping his agenda.
I’m ready now and looking around and putting my name out there. I’m ready for all options. I want to get onto that ladder and however I have to I’ll get on that ladder and work through it.
Campbell spent five years with the Gunners following his controversial switch from Tottenham back in 2001, and since then he’s become a role model for club and country.
He’s a figure that is known throughout the country and would have no problem attracting the attention of lower league clubs once his coaching badges have been approved.
The former centre back has kept no secret in his disgrace that he was never chosen to skipper the national team, and he has often stressed that was due to the colour of his skin.
However, when asked whether he could see himself in the England setup, Campbell expressed his desire to see it one day happen, even if it isn’t him in the manager’s office.
Who knows if we will have a black England manager? I think it’s on the same level as hoping we get a black Prime Minister.
Many former Gunners have all gone into management, and now it looks as if Campbell wants to follow in the footsteps of Patrick Vieira, Thierry Henry and Mikel Arteta.
