4. Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Arsenal had a chance to sign Ibrahimovic, a very good chance too. Arsene had an amazing chance to sign the Swede in 2000 when they had agreed a fee with his club. The fee was not enough though as Arsene wanted to see Zlatan in action – this conjured up the famous line: ‘Zlatan doesn’t do auditions’.
Wenger said: ‘He was 16. I asked him to have a little training session with the first team and he didn’t want to do it. Do I regret it? No. I will continue to do that unless our scouts have seen the player and says, “look he is absolutely 100 per cent”.
Zlatan told press in 2014 “Arsenal could have happened, as everybody knows – but I would not do a trial. Who do you think regrets that more, Arsene Wenger or Zlatan?”. Cheeky Zlatan, but very true. Fair play that he has the ability to match the arrogance. Gutted Rating: 9/10
