5 Reasons Arsenal Shouldn’t Sign Ashley Cole

The Express have linked us with a move for Ashley Cole this summer. Here’s 5 reasons why we shouldn’t go there.

1. We hate him

We do. I have never come across an Arsenal fan that likes Ashley Cole since he upped and left us in 2006. None of my Arsenal supporting friends likes him. None of the people I’ve spoken to at Arsenal games likes him. And, nobody I have ever come across on Twitter likes him. On the face of it, it seems a rather petulant argument, but his re-signing could cause disruptions. Due to the upheld contempt felt towards him by Arsenal fans (and no doubt the more free-spirited players, such as Szczesny) his playing at Arsenal wouldn’t be incredibly pleasant. It could disrupt the Arsenal changing room, which at the moment is as harmonious as it ever has been. We don’t need the addition of a treacherous little swine to upset that.

2. Age

He is 33 years old at the moment, and come December 20th he’ll turn 34. According to the papers he’s looking for a two-year deal, meaning by the time his contract would be up he’d be pushing 36. Arsène isn’t particularly keen on older players and the ‘one-year contract’ rule wouldn’t be broken for Ashley Cole.
