3. Cesc Fabregas
Well, that hasn’t turned out too well, has it? He has of course ended up at Chelsea, but he has publicly admitted that he wanted to join Arsenal and that Chelsea were effectively the second best choice. There is also talk in the papers that he held a ‘heart breaking’ telephone conversation with Arsène, in which I can only assume he begged to come back. I imagine it went something like this.
Cesc: “Hello Arsène, it’s Cesc.”
Arsène: “Sorry, who is this? How did you get my telephone number?”
Cesc: “It’s me, Cesc Fabregas. Remember? The one who spent 8 years at Arsenal and left as soon as Barcelona wanted me again?”
Arsène: “Ah yes, I remember. What do you want?”
Cesc: “They are being mean to me in Barcelona. I want to come home to Arsenal. Please let me come back.”
Arsène: “No. Goodbye.” – hangs up
Cesc: “Arsène? Waaaahhhh”
Or something like that anyway.
