Before he made his move to in to enemy territory. The grotty part of North London. White Hart Lane. Vertonghen was keen to join Arsenal. In fact, even at the point where he been shown around our neighbours’ tragic excuse for a football club, he was saying that should the deal fall through, he’d sign for The Gunner. Of course, he has been at Tottenham now for a couple of years and is probably comfortable as a starting centre back. But, come on. Now that he has tasted the bitter failure that comes free with the lilywhite Spurs shirt, there is no doubt he’s regretting his decision to turn down Arsenal.
