With Arsenal looking for forwards to strengthen their attacking prowess, Swansea City’s Wilfried Bony has been eyed as a potential transfer. After a fantastic debut season in English football, where he scored 25 goals for the Welsh club, Bony is now eying a move to the big boys- with his agent talking up a move to a ‘top six’ club.

If Arsenal come swooping for the 25-year-old Ivorian, he’s likely to accept and so are the club. However, he will command a fee that could rise to as much as £20m which, given the other players Arsenal are eying, is a hefty fee. That may put Wenger off for the time being, especially with fans crying out for a big name after seeing Cesc Fabregas move to arch-rivals Chelsea after the Gunners turned down the opportunity to sign him.

A good World Cup campaign will raise interest in Bony and will also raise his transfer fee. However, it will also persuade Arsene Wenger that Bony is good enough and could signal a move from the red half of North London. Where Bony is plying his trade next season is likely to come down to how he performs on the world stage in Brazil.
