Three Stories In Five Minutes: Alexis Returns, Corbyn’s Mad & Is Mahrez Incoming?

3 – Mahrez Edges Closer To Arsenal

Now I must admit, this is just a bit of speculation on my end, but I really do think Riyad Mahrez will be an Arsenal player by the end of this transfer window.

Leicester City have finalised a deal to sign Kelechi Iheanacho from Manchester City for a fee of £25million, something that has got to be one of the most promising deals of the summer.

The Nigerian has had to play second fiddle to Sergio Aguero but when given the chance, he regularly finds the net whether playing as a centre forward or out on the flank.

And that’s where my suspicions lie with this deal, as it seems The Tigers are already conceding to the fact Mahrez won’t be on their books next season and have already bagged his replacement.

With that sorted, Leicester can relax their valuation of Mahrez just a little bit despite rejecting a £27m offer from Roma last week, as they believe he’s worth £45m.

Arsenal meanwhile are struggling to negotiate with Monaco over their number one target Thomas Lemar and see Mahrez as the perfect back-up option if they fail to sign the 21-year-old.

I don’t think the Ligue 1 champions can afford to let another one of their star men go without a proper replacement on hand, so this could almost be the sign to go and get Mahrez.
