Having splashed out £17.1million to land Lucas Perez during the final days of last summer’s transfer window, many fans felt the ‘number 9 curse’ was finally over.

But a series of good performances weren’t rewarded by Arsene Wenger, who then went on to leave him out of the pre-season tour and remove his shirt number without even telling him.

Fresh Arsenal understand that all sign point to a Lucas Perez shaped hole in the Emirates Stadium as he looks to get an imminent departure, something that’s proving difficult according to his agent.

Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle claims that his client has received a number of offers but Arsenal are standing strong in their estimate and will not budge when it comes to a transfer fee.

Whilst talking to TurkishFootball earlier this week, Lucas’ agent suggested that a deal will be concluded as soon as someone matches the asking price.

We are in talks with Fenerbache but Arsene Wenger does not want a loan move. Wenger wants £13.4m for Lucas.

He still has another three years on his contract so Arsenal hold all the cards. Fenerbache, two Spanish teams and a Bundesliga side have made an offer for Lucas.

Fenerbache are the most serious and we have been in talks for two months.

Newcastle and Everton have both been linked in a number of reports too, possibly giving Lucas a chance to stay in England and prove he’s got what it takes.

Ultimately, if there’s an offer from Deportivo on the table and they can stump up the funds, it’s no surprise that he’ll return to his former side in order to reunite with the fans.
