The Three Signings That Would Transform Arsenal’s Starting XI

3. Alexis Sanchez

The 25-year-old is reportedly closing in on a move to The Emirates. What a signing that would be – as good, if not more impressive, than Mesut Ozil’s arrival last summer. The Barca winger showed his electric pace, power and efficiency for Chile during the World Cup, scoring 2 goals and getting an assist. The Chilean’s conversion rate at Barca is through the roof – and has been for the best part of 4 years now [credit to @MixedKnuts for the radar – a great follow!]. He racked up a quite incredible 19 goals and 10 assists from the right wing in just 34 appearances (7 coming off the bench). I am of the opinion that Arsene plans to use him as a centre-forward in the long term but his ability to play out wide would provide invaluable cover for the injured Theo Walcott. It would be a shrewd signing at £30 million and proof that when Arsene Wenger finds the right player, he is willing to splash the cash to bring him to the club. Hopefully Arsenal can get this one over the line.

These three signings won’t be enough for us to sustain a challenge in all four major competitions but it would give us the power and pace that were so often lacking last year. With Wilshere, Chamberlain, Szczesny, Gibbs and Ozil all bound to improve from last year, anything is possible.
