Thierry Henry Makes Arsenal Return Despite Sky Sports Job: A Good Move?

So the news doing the rounds the last couple of days is that Thierry Henry is set to re-join Arsenal.

Reports suggest Henry will work as a coach with the academy as he gains his coaching badges. So he’s back, for a third stint at the club. Hopefully this spell lasts longer than any of his previous ones, as it would be great to see him develop as a coach before eventually becoming manager of the club. Is this route a good move for Henry, or should he manage elsewhere before trying to negotiate such a high profile role?

Granted Henry will gain plenty of experience working with the Arsenal academy, but would you like to see him have first hand experience at managing another club before Arsenal? There’s some things you can only learn by actually doing the job. A part of me thinks he should do his badges here and then gain managerial experience elsewhere. The fairytale side of my mind disagrees. That script says Henry should work his way through the ranks at Arsenal before taking the main role.

Henry is of course, also working as a pundit for Sky Sports currently. What do you think of his work so far for the channel?

Do you think Henry has made the right choice by doing his badges at the club? If yes, do you think he has what it takes to one day become the Arsenal manager and if so, should that be his first managerial job? Have your say by commenting below.
