3 – Raheem Sterling
Arsenal have said that Alexis Sanchez is not for sale, but with the player seemingly unwilling to sign on, the club could change their mind in the final days of the transfer window. Their mind could change for sure if City offer a player in negotiations and the London Evening Standard amongst others has suggested that Pep Guardiola is willing to let go of Sterling plus cash to seal a deal for Alexis. That will surely tempt Wenger, who is a known admirer of the 22-year-old Englishman. Although he is clearly not at the level of Alexis right now, he does have a huge amount of potential and would certainly be a useful, home grown addition to the squad. Should Arsenal let Alexis leave for nothing at the end of the season and almost certainly join City, or accept he doesn’t want to stay and accept this player plus cash offer? I’d suggest the Gunners should cut their losses and go with Sterling plus cash.
