Report Card: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

The Ox Report Card 2016

  • Age: 23
  • Position: Winger
  • Squad #: 15
  • Height: 5ft 11in

Season Prediction:

This is a huge season for Chamberlain and if there’s anyone that can show him how not to pan out your Arsenal career it’s his main competition in Theo Walcott. He now needs to show he’s good enough to hold down a position where we know we’re not taking a gamble on him. Sure, he’s still young at heart but his attention needs to become more serious when it comes to game time.

Player Objectives:

Not only does he need to find his feet in the Arsenal squad, The Ox has his sights set on a recall to the England squad following a dry spell in recent months. He missed the Euro’s and now Allardyce looks to favour Theo Walcott and Michael Antonio over the former Southampton man. At 23 he’s got the time but with a World Cup coming up in two years the hard work needs to start now.

Best Attributes:

It’s tough to pick out where his strengths lie, but obviously his quick change of pace is a massive bonus for us down the flanks, and when he’s in the mood he’s got a damn good strike on the ball.

Weak Areas:

Possession, Chamberlain often makes things harder than they have to be and keeping hold of the ball is never in his best interest. Sure, he’s great at running down the flanks but when he gets to the bi-line he’s got no finished product.
