Officials at the Gunners want to get rid of Wojciech Szczesny on a permanent basis when he returns from his second successive loan spell to Roma.

According to a report from The Independent, the 27-year-old is ready to come back to North London and fight for his place as Arsenal’s number one.

In his way currently is Petr Cech and David Ospina, two goalkeepers Arsene Wenger has regularly stated he sees as world class (not a bad thing to have on the CV).

And it’s because of this that Arsenal are ready to cash in on Szczesny, who is yet another success story of the Gunners academy, coming through with Wilshere and Fabregas.

The report goes on to reveal Szczesny is desperate to play football in England as he enters his peak years as a shot-stopper, and has already held informal talks with some clubs.

By going off of this report, I really don’t understand it because Szczesny is in the best position to take over from Cech next season.

Ospina hasn’t been used as much as he’d like to and Cech is off in a year or so, which means Szczesny could stand as the club’s best option for the next five or six years.

He’s an Arsenal fan through and through, and whatever his relationship is with Wenger he can take confidence in the fact the boss might not even be here next season.

Everything is stalling because of Wenger’s reluctance to call an announcement on his future and I for one think that’s damaging the club more than anything.
