The Daily Star, and other unreliable sources have linked Petr Cech to Arsenal. Is he the man to cure Arsenal’s defensive woes? We know Arsene Wenger is a big fan of the Czech Republic international, but is a move really realistic this winter?
Chelsea surely know that Arsenal are no immediate threat to them in the title race, so should have no qualms about selling the Czech Republic international to the Gunners. He is 32 years old, a perfect age for a goalkeeper who is going to compete with someone like Szczesny. He could act as a mentor to Szczesny and after a few years of taking the number one spot, could stand aside and let the Polish keeper succeed him. Cech is too good to just be playing cup games. There are obvious benefits of investing in Cech – giving the Gunners a reliable keeper would add stability and experience to the Arsenal rearguard.
