The Gunners appear to have finally sealed a deal that will see a midfielder return to the club.
Jose Luis Sanchez, a Spanish journalist has confirmed tonight that midfielder Dani Ceballos will spend another season on loan at Arsenal.
He says Real Madrid and Arsenal are putting the finishing touches on a deal and that the Spanish club would like him to continue gaining experience in England before deciding upon his long term future.
Reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed the news. He adds that Ceballos turned down three offers in order to return to Arsenal, with Arteta convincing him that Arsenal is the best place for him next season.
Ceballos grew into his role at Arsenal as the season progressed, gaining the trust of manager Arteta and rewarding him with some excellent performances at the base of midfield. It’s clear he loves the club by how he reacted to Arsenal’s win against Liverpool in the Community Shield.
Whilst most were on the fence with Dani before lockdown, his form since the restart has been excellent, and aside from Emiliano Martinez, he’s probably been the Gunners standout player. Becoming more influential in midfield, the Spaniard demands the ball and helps the Gunners control the game in spells, whilst his defensive work rate and contributions are often understated and underrated. No player made more tackles than Ceballos in the victory against Manchester City, for example.
