Arsenal are set to make their first signing of the January transfer window, finally.
The Gunners have missed out on both Felix and Mudryk but now look set to take advantage of a fallout at Brighton and sign Leandro Trossard.
Trossard was number one in our alternatives to Mudryk article. Last week his agent revealed he has fallen out with new Brighton boss De Zebri and he wants to leave and with Arsenal always being a fan of the 28-year-old, they appear to have seized on the opportunity.
Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Trossard and a deal appears close with negotiations advanced.
This news has since been reported by the reliable David Ornstein at The Athletic.
If Arsenal hope to involve Trossard in the squad for the game against Manchester United, a deal will need to be fully complete and formalised by midday tomorrow.
With just 18 months left on his Brighton contract and given the circumstances, Trossard could be available for a reasonable fee, with no amount specified in this morning’s reports.
He is valued at 30million euros on transfermarkt and has scored 7 Premier League goals this season.
Yes it's a backup option but it's not a panic buy from Arsenal. Arteta likes Trossard, had eyes on his contract situation in the summer. Arsenal were even interested in him before he moved to Brighton 🇧🇪 pic.twitter.com/i5yKXFDtf2
