Petr Cech – 7.9

Cech was quality. He made a crucial first-half save to deny Jamie Vardy, that moment cannot be underestimated.

Hector Bellerin – 7.4

Per Mertesacker – 7.2

Laurent Koscielny (off 45) – 6.2

Nacho Monreal – 7.3

Wasn’t a penalty, sorry Thierry. Monreal had Riyad Mahrez in his pocket all afternoon – until he was subbed off. I think the Spaniard deserves way more credit that he gets.

Francis Coquelin – 6.8

Aaron Ramsey – 7.0

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 6.9

Mesut Ozil – 7.4

Once again, Ozil delivered the perfect ball to make the difference. The German put an inch perfect pass on the head of Welbeck to seal the three points. How important may that be?

Alexis Sanchez – 6.3

Tough afternoon for the Chilean. He really should have scored a couple of goals and desperately needs to find his best form as Arsenal enter an extremely difficult and decisive period in the season.

Olivier Giroud – 7.4

Subs

Danny Welbeck (on for Chamberlain 83′) – 9.1 – (Man of the Match)

I don’t normally write up about the subs but today they made the difference. For once Arsenal had attacking options on the bench and look at the effect it can have, remarkable. It’s great to see Welbeck back, hopefully he can keep going after that euphoric goal.

Theo Walcott (on for Coquelin 60′) – 7.8
Calum Chambers (on for Koscielny 45′) – 7.7

I think we were all worried when Chambers came on for Koscielny at half time, but although he wasn’t tested much, the English defender did really well. He still has flaws, but he’s only just turned 21, so has plenty of time to develop into a very good central defender.
