Player Ratings: Arsenal 2-0 Leeds

Arsenal marched on into the quarter finals of the League Cup on Tuesday night as a heavily rotated Gunners side made light work of Leeds.

It was a fairly balanced first half, but in the second half Arsenal took full control. Calum Chambers scored just 23 seconds after coming on for the injured Ben White (which is hopefully just a precautionary sub, because he was excellent, again) and then Eddie Nketiah pounced on a loose ball to double Arsenal’s lead and put the game to bed.

Here’s how I rated the players.

Bernd Leno – 8
Cedric Soares – 8
Ben White – 8
Rob Holding – 6
Sead Kolasinac – 6
Mohammed Elneny – 6
Ainsley Maitland-Niles – 7
Emile Smith Rowe – 7
Nicolas Pepe – 5
Gabriel Martinelli – 5
Eddie Nketiah – 7

Man of the match: Cedric Soares. Cedric was solid going forward and defensively. A really impressive performance from him and with that, establishing himself as the back up right back.

Flop of the match: Pepe and Martinelli. Neither did enough to displace Saka and Smith Rowe from the Premier League when given an opportunity, they’ll be disappointed not to have made more of an impact.
