Opinion: Nine Arsenal first-team players expected to depart this summer

4 – Hector Bellerin

Another one who’s contract is expiring next summer, Bellerin has earned the right to choose his next step after eleven years as an Arsenal player.

Still at the age of 27, Bellerin is in his prime years and is likely to force through an exit from the club after an enjoyable season on loan back in Spain at Real Betis.

The Spaniard hasn’t been coy on his feelings after publicly stating that he would like to make life at Betis permanent, something that the La Liga side can’t afford with Bellerin’s hefty wages of £110k per week.

It’s a difficult one for Arsenal to have to deal with and a loan move could be most likely that would involve another club supporting the defenders wage structure.

With Takehiro Tomiyasu, Cedric Soares and even Ben White capable of filling in at right-back, Arsenal aren’t exactly short of options and Bellerin can be considered a top priority to get out of the exit door this summer.

Arteta will respect Bellerin’s wishes and work hard to ensure all parties are happy, but I would be surprised if this doesn’t result in Bellerin running down his contract which ends in 2023.
