This is now a story moving by the hour rather than by the day and according to the latest from Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth, it appears a transfer for Bernd Leno is almost done.

Arsenal have been going back and forth with Premier League new boys, Fulham, who made the 30-year-old their number one target for the goalkeeping position.

The talks had stalled in recent weeks due to Fulham failing to meet Arsenal’s valuation of £11m, but it appears Edu Gaspar is reluctant to miss out on an easy sale.

Sky Sports reported earlier this week that Fulham were looking at potential alternatives including Sergio Rico and Neto, which looks to have worked as a tactic to panic Arsenal.

This deal is expected to go through pretty fast from now as Leno already has personal terms agreed with Marco Silva’s side after they approached him back in early June.

Leno is listed as one of Arsenal’s top earners at the moment with him pocketing a reported £100k per week following his arrival back in 2018 as one of Unai Emery’s signings.

But ever since Aaron Ramsdale was brought in by Arteta, Leno’s game time has been limited and he’ll now be expected to play as a regular at Craven Cottage whilst ensuring his family can stay living in London.

It’s a transfer that works for everyone involved and will also ensure more game time for Arsenal’s new boy, Matt Turner, who’s likely to feature in the Europa League this season.
