Journalist Julien Laurens has suggested that Arsenal may consider a sale this summer, and Manchester City are extremely interested in Wilshere as they look to refresh their midfield and add to their homegrown quota.

A large bid from Manchester City would leave both Arsenal and Wilshere with a dilemma. The reality is Wilshere is currently not first choice at the club, and £30million is a lot of money for a sub. Wilshere may see City as a place to reignite his career which appears to be heading in the wrong direction.

Personally I wouldn’t sell him, especially to Manchester City. He still has a lot of potential to fulfil. He needs to find the right position to utilise his talent. Arsene Wenger needs to find a way to incorporate his qualities.

I can see why some might want to sell him. We have better players in his position and the money raised from his sale could be used to improve in positions that need more urgent attention. £30million is also a lot of money for a player who has yet to flourish and become efficient in attacking areas. But Wilshere is an Arsenal man – if he still can’t break into the team in a few years then we could consider selling up.

There is an argument that we should take advantage of City’s ‘stupidity’ with money and push for a fee of around £40million – surely such an amount is impossible to turn down for someone of Wilshere’s level.

What do you think? Should we sell Wilshere? And if so, to Manchester City? Comment below.
