Leeds and Newcastle battling to sign Arsenal outcast

Arsenal appear to set announce the signing of Gabriel Magalhaes this week. With the Brazilian arriving, the Gunners are set to make sales in defence.

Amongst those to go, it seems Rob Holding will be one. The defender turns 25 next month and was only recently considered a prospect. Now, with Gabriel’s arrival (22) and William Saliba (19), Rob suddenly appears well down the pecking order for both now and in the future.

But he is not short of suitors and seems certain to stay in the Premier League next season, whether that is on loan or in a permanent deal. Both Leeds and Newcastle are said to be interested.

Leeds are seriously struggling for numbers in defence, whilst Steve Bruce wants to strengthen his defence options and would like to bring in Holding on loan, according to the Daily Mail.

Arsenal will be keen to rush through a deal for Holding, as they look to clear the decks to fund improvements in other areas of the squad.

Leeds are also hoping to sign young Arsenal striker Sam Greenwood, in a deal worth around £3million.

There’s plenty to be done at Arsenal in the next few weeks, both in and out of the club – but with the transfer window still having more than a month to run, we can expect some of these sagas to drag on.
