Is Bukayo Saka destined to play in another new position for Arsenal?

Bukayo Saka has proven to be an incredibly versatile player for Arsenal.

The Gunners have deployed the teenager in several positions, in defence, midfield and as a forward. Saka has excelled across the pitch, starting as a left back, then a left wing back and left winger and more recently in 2021 we’ve seen Saka excel on the right side of a front three.

On Sunday, we saw him dictate the game in the number 10 role, proving to be Arsenal’s main playmaker in the absence of Emile Smith Rowe and Martin Odegaard.

But could we see Saka in yet another position? On the latest episode of The Fresh Arsenal podcast – it was discussed at whether Saka could play in a slightly deeper central midfield position.

Against Sheffield United we saw Dani Ceballos play in the left sided central midfield role, but is this something Saka could do? On the face of it, it’s a potential option, especially if Xhaka is behind him in the ‘left back role’ and with Martinelli ahead of him. It gives Arsenal the potential to create some lethal combinations.
