3 – Ismael Bennacer to Empoli (permanent move)
Hardly a huge cut from the wage bill but Bennacer was always one that was tipped for success at Arsenal following some encouraging displays in the academy over the last few years.
However, at 19 the midfielder isn’t willing to waste any time and is adamant of getting game time at the Serie B side in order to prove to Wenger he’s ready for first team football now.
Bennacer made just one appearance for the senior squad during his time at the Gunners, a 3-0 loss to Sheffield Wednesday in the League Cup, so not exactly one to remember!
The Frenchman signed a four-year deal with Empoli at lunch-time on Monday after the Italian side tweeted the news. Best of luck Bennacer, hopefully it’s not a decision that comes back to haunt us all!
