ICYMI: Arsenal Complete Three Deals As Wenger Continues To Trim His Squad

With just under 10 days to go until the transfer window shuts, things are starting to get busy at London Colney as Arsene Wenger continues to sort out his squad.

The boss has been heavily criticised of his failure to complete business before the season officially began two weeks ago, and is now sweating over the chance to sign new players.

Before he’s able to even open negotiations with top targets like Thomas Lemar and Virgil van Dijk, Wenger has to ensure he has enough space in the first-team squad.

In order to do that, a number of players were placed on the transfer list earlier this summer but have failed to go out and find a new club worthy of paying their wages or fee.

Today marked the first sign that things are beginning to change though, as Arsenal followed up on the departure of Gabriel to Valencia by confirming three more deals.

1- Carl Jenkinson to Birmingham City (season-long loan)

Yes, we’ve finally managed to shift him on (only for the season) but Jenkinson will now hope to be playing regular football under Harry Redknapp’s new-look Midlands side.

The Blues confirmed early on Monday morning that the 25-year-old would be joining their ranks as Redknapp felt he was a player that proved his value and experience during loan spells at West Ham.

Jenkinson’s Arsenal career is over and done with unless he can pull some sort of magical ‘Messi-eque’ performance out whilst playing at right-back in the Championship.

Arsenal already have Hector Bellerin, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Calum Chambers capable of playing at right-back so it won’t be long until Mathieu Debuchy joins the Englishman on parting ways with the Gunners.
