Gossip: Arsenal Agree Fee for Striker And Prepare £65m Madrid Raid

As the season draws to a close, the gossip begins. We will be bringing you an Arsenal filtered gossip column throughout the summer. Today reports suggest Arsenal will make a £30million bid for Benzema after the Champions League final. See all the Arsenal transfer news in our Gossip Column

Arsenal to launch £30m move for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema (Telegraph) and Madrid are happy to sell to fund a £70million bid for Luis Suarez (Mirror). This would be a good move for Arsenal. Benzema is a quality striker, and for just £30million it could be a really good deal. Benzema has just 1 year left on his contract and Madrid want to sign Suarez. Perhaps, as we funded Bale’s transfer, we could do it again this summer. Maybe we should go for di Maria too. (Fresh Arsenal)

Arsenal are preparing a €40million bid for Angel di Maria (Sport Witness). As I said above, di Maria would be a quality signing. He is a great winger but has also played very well in the attacking midfield role for Madrid this season. Ancelotti built his superstar side around him and it is for that reason why I believe there is no real truth in this. Arsenal might be interested, but Madrid are unlikely to let him go.

Arsenal have activated the £3.3million buy-back clause in Carlos Vela’s contract (Fresh Arsenal). I have said it before but bringing back Vela would be a great deal. These reports originate from Kiki Marin who is fairly reliable. His report suggests that the Gunners may look at Vela in pre-season after using the buy-back clause and if he is still not ready for the Gunners, they could sell him on for over £15million to one of many interested parties.

Arsenal are facing competition for Morgan Schneiderlin amid Napoli interest (Mirror). Schneiderlin seems the most realistic option for us so I’d suggest we make sure it happens. Pay anything up to £18million – he will be worth it and will not just improve our squad, but our starting eleven.

Loic Remy has dropped the biggest hint yet that he is set to join Arsenal by suggesting that he has an offer from a Champions League club (Fresh Arsenal). He’d need to be one of two forwards to arrive this summer for me to be satisfied – you?

Should Arsenal’s number one striker target be Benzema? Should the Gunners re-sign Vela? Comment below with your thoughts.
