2 – Rob Holding – Sent on short-term loan
Undoubtedly a defender that is going to be a regular in the first team for a long time to come, but his current situation isn’t helping him to pick up that progression.
Holding has barely put a foot wrong when thrown into the action and following his £2million summer move from Bolton, his life has changed considerably.
However, with the likes of Mustafi, Gabriel and Mertesacker all higher up in the pecking order the chance for Holding to get game time isn’t looking good for the season.
His main run of appearances came in the League Cup but now that we’re out of that, he’ll only be in contention if we build a decent run of FA Cup appearances in the New Year.
I liken his situation to that of Calum Chambers, a player that is down to earth and will give everything when out on the pitch, so a decent bit of playing time will do him good.
Holding is integrated into the Arsenal atmosphere now and it’d be a great time for him to join a Championship side that can offer him a senior role in the defence.
