German Driving Force? The 3 Deals Arsenal Are Likely To Complete In January

It seems Arsenal aren’t content with another season to drag out into eventual disappointment, and transfer business is already being done behind the scenes.

The Gunners are sitting nine points off of Premier League leaders Chelsea and will face a heavy fixture schedule once the New Year breaks in.

And despite having the ability to welcome back Danny Welbeck and Per Mertesacker from long-term injuries, Arsene Wenger isn’t content with his squad and wants to add depth.

Whilst it may seem like a drastic measure considering we’ve only lost three games this season, the Arsenal boss is already looking to the future on how this team can compete.

He’s already set his sights on securing the contract extensions of several key players, but here’s how we think the North London side could act in January…

1 – Julian Draxler – Wolfsburg to Arsenal (£25m)

In today’s football transfer market, if £25million gets you an attacking midfielder who’s 23 and tipped to be one of the best in his position, you don’t ask questions.

Yes, the man who gets linked with us nearly every season will join either Arsenal or PSG during the winter transfer window following a horrid time at current club, Wolfsburg.

Draxler has forced his way out of a side that refused to sign players last summer in search of football that will not only challenge him, but make him a player to remember.

Wenger has been a huge admirer of the German youngster for some time and his connections with Shkodran Mustafi and Mesut Ozil could be key to Draxler choosing the Gunners.

With an ability to play in any three of the midfield positions, the attacker could add competition to the likes of Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alex Iwobi, who have struggled to gain a good run of form.

Meanwhile, Wenger has to respond to the fans who have grown tired of falling at the final hurdle, so signing this playmaker could well be a change to lift all areas of the squad.
