3. Luiz Gustavo
Luiz Gustavo is the purest defensive midfielder on the list. Again, this player surely has the quality due to starting in Brazil’s Confederation Cup winning team. In addition, he was a key part to Bayern Munich’s treble-winning team before moving to Wolfsburg last summer. In fact, we were in for him. But before realizing he couldn’t start every match for the Gunners, he opted to go somewhere else. He is a hard-nose tackler that would certainly add bite to Arsenal’s sometime “soft” midfield. The few downsides to him are his passing abilities and his rashness. He doesn’t have the range or skill of passing of Arteta, but is more of a Mathieu Flamini type player. The other thing is he can be reckless and get unnecessary yellow, or even red, cards. His price tag would be around £14.5 million and I could see us getting him for that. I wouldn’t go in for him, but he’s at least worth a look and a honourable mention.
