Cesc Fabregas has once again spoken out about Arsenal in an interview with Sid Lowe from the Guardian. He discussed his whole career, but made interesting points on the Gunners, and once again refused to rule out a return.
The Spaniard admitted he didn’t know whether he would return as a player, but a coaching role could be available after his playing career is over: “Arsenal is in my heart and always will be. I don’t know if I’ll have the opportunity to go back and play there one day, or maybe after football.
“It’s a club that is always going to be there and will always open its doors to me. The club’s like a family so, even if it wasn’t as a coach, I’m sure they’d give me the chance to play a role.
Arsenal signed Mesut Ozil for a record breaking £40million in the summer, leaving Arsenal heavily stocked in the attacking midfield areas. If Fabregas were to return in the near future, he may be pushed further up the field to play as the false nine. Or if he came much later in his career, could move deeper into the midfield and perhaps replace the ageing Arteta in that deep playmaker role.
Arsenal top the Premier League table after eight games, with Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City and Tottenham all within three points. Can they win the title? Fabregas warned of the tricky festive period:
“I really hope so, they’ve started very well. They look very strong; let’s see how they last.
“In the Premier League you can be going well and then you lose two games and you slip away quickly. It’s very sudden.
“A lot gets decided over Christmas: the team that hangs in there best, that can resist the best, will take the title.”
Arsenal and Arsene Wenger would jump at the chance to take Cesc Fabregas back to the club, even if it meant further crowding out the attacking midfield area of the team.
