Emery Confident Of Surprise Signing Of Bayern Munich Midfielder

Arsenal may not be done in the market just yet…

Reports have recently suggested that Arsenal may have concluded their business for the summer, but that is unlikely to be the case.

The Gunners are hoping to offload a few players before signing anyone else, but it is clear that Unai Emery is open to adding 2-3 more players before the window shuts on August 6 – an earlier date than normal. This summer, the window is set to shut before the season starts.

Amongst the targets is a wide midfielder, and the main objective appears to be Kingsley Coman, formerly of Juventus. The 22-year-old French midfielder was in and out of the Bayern team before his most recent injury and an offer of consistent first-team football could be enough to persuade the talented youngster to work under Emery.

Emery is reportedly convinced that Coman wants out of Bayern Munich. Time will tell if that is actually the case or not – but it is encouraging to see Arsenal moving for wide players as the squad clearly lacks quality in this area.

It’s clear that Arsenal are looking to offload Danny Welbeck, who has been linked to Everton. David Ospina, Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez are also players who could make way in order to raise funds for further new arrivals, allowing Emery to truly make his mark on the squad.

Alex Iwobi’s future is also up on the air, whilst Reiss Nelson and Jeff Reine-Adelaide will be hoping they can do enough in pre-season to convince Emery that he doesn’t need to sign any more midfielders.
