When it comes to ready-made forwards that offer goals and assists, Memphis Depay has the kind’ve CV that you put at the top of the pile.
Despite a failed stint in the Premier League at Manchester United, the 28-year-old has rediscovered his finest form in recent years at Lyon, which earned him a move to Barcelona.
Interestingly it’s been a mixed debut campaign in La Liga for Barca’s number nine, who netted 12 goals in 27 appearances following a fine start to the campaign.
The January arrivals of Adama Traore and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang threw Depay’s form into a bit of a muddle and recent events have suggested the Catalan club could look to cash in.
Barca are having big financial issues and in order to find the funds and space to justify a signing like Raphinha, they would be more than likely required to let up one of their forward men.
Barca signed Depay for just over £40m last summer and when you compare a potential fee of £50m for Arsenal, you start to think that other options appear slightly more attractive.
