Edu’s work? Signing this young Brazilian duo could solve Arsenal’s issues

Following the early success of Gabriel Martinelli’s move to London, Edu Gaspar, Arsenal’s new technical director and former midfielder, could be once again looking to young Brazilian’s to solve the teams current issues.

And few would argue that high on the team’s list of problems right now are central defence and central midfield.

In midfield, the club are said to be looking at Bruno Guimarães, who is valued at £25million-£30million. Predominantly a defensive-minded midfielder, young Guimarães (22) is known for his playmaking abilities also.

Arsenal have reportedly already held negotiations for the player, with the likes of Lyon also said to be interested.

Elsewhere, in defence, the Gunners could target Brazilian Lille defender, Gabriel Magalhães. Also 22, Gabriel is impressing in Ligue 1 currently for Lille.

A former teammate of Nicolas Pepe, Gabriel has only really broken onto the scene this season and standing at 6ft 3′ would add both technical and physical ability to the Arsenal defence.

The links to Gabriel originate from David Ornstein who first shared this for The Atheltic at the end of December 2019.

Gabriel is known for his ability in the air, well equipped to win aerial duels. He’s also known for his ability to pick out players from deep, a bit like David Luiz. Gabriel demonstrates this in his average of 3.8 long balls per game and 62.9 average passes per game. On paper, he appears to suit Arteta’s style of player and also add qualities to the Arsenal team that they do not already have.
