The talented youngster has penned a three-year contract with the Gunners, and will immediately link up as part of the scholarship programme.

Dragomir is currently the captain of the Romanian Under-16 squad, and has been under the watchful eye of scouts from the North London club over the last year and a half.

Joining from ACS Poli Timisoara, the central midfielder has been unveiled at the Emirates training complex with the number 7 shirt, however the news has only been broken in Romanian media thus far.

The above picture features Arsenal’s transfer negotiator, Dick Law, with the agent of the 16-year-old, Catalin Sarmasan, who helped to secure the deal earlier on today.

And Dragomir, who will be utilised on the wings just as much next season, stated that the move to North London was appropriate for his development.

I am very glad and I hope not to disappoint anyone. The Arsenal offer seemed the best to me, I felt that this is my place.

Gunners’ fans can be easily excused for not knowing the talents of Dragomir, who will now look to follow in the footsteps of Daniel Crowley and Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

Arsenal are expected to release a full squad list of the first-year scholars in the coming week, who will all look to sign professional contracts at the Hale End academy.

And although it isn’t the marquee signing that Arsenal fans have been expecting, it does provide reassurance that Arsene Wenger is still concentrating on the turnover of youth.
